Girls volleyball: Top performances, MVPs from Friday’s state tournament matches

The NJSIAA girls volleyball state tournament is fully underway.
We have seen several upset victories alongside incredible and unforgettable individual performances. As we inch closer to the sectional finals, let’s have a look at the MVPs from Nov. 8.

Audre Damis, Glen Rock
Damis slammed 10 kills, two aces, and one block in the straight-set victory over Westwood in the N1G1 semifinals.
Amira Dzelesi, Wayne Valley
Dzelesi captured 16 assists, 11 digs, and four aces in the three-set win over Cliffside Park in the N1G3 semifinals.
Carsyn Giessuebel, Jefferson
Giessuebel broke the Falcons’ single-season ace record with 78 following the two-set win over Park Ridge on the road in the N1G1 semifinals. She also snagged eight kills and eight digs.
Sara Wingfield, Ramapo
Wingfield snared a double-double 11 kills and 11 assists in the N1G3 semis against Mount Olive. She also ripped five aces five aces in two sets
Ava Chen, Millburn
Chen guided the Millers to a two-set win over Scotch Plains-Fanwood in the N2G3 bracket behind 17 digs, two assists, and two aces.
Keegan Hissner, North Hunterdon
Hissner corralled 10 kills and six digs in the Lions’ two-set win over Summit in the N2G3 tournament.
Brynn Mack, Verona
Mack put on the game of a lifetime in the three-set win over Rutherford in the N2G1 semis. She sported 25 kills, 18 digs, and eight aces.
Avalyn Torres, Secaucus
Torres secured 19 digs on Friday, bringing her to 298 this season to help Secaucus down Bogota in three sets in the N2G1 semifinals. She also recorded two assists and one ace.
Sophia Christoffers, Madison
Christoffers tallied a double-double of 15 digs and 14 kills in the three-set win over New Providence in the CJG1 semis.
Naomi Lygas, Princeton
Lygas pummeled 12 kills, five digs, and two aces in the straight-set affair against Jackson Memorial in the CJG3 semifinals.
Yeimy Hernandez-Aguilar, Hammonton
Hernandez-Aguilar collected 16 assists and five digs in the SJG3 tournament over Shawnee in two sets.
Ava Ballard, Rutgers Prep
Ballard picked up eight kills and one dig over St. Dominic in two sets of the Non-Public B South bracket.
Annabelle Burns, Mother Seton
Burns snagged nine kills, nine digs, and three aces in two sets of the Non-Public B South tournament vs. Princeton Day.
Claire Link, DePaul
In the Non-Public B North quarterfinals, Link recorded three kills, one block, and two aces in two sets against Eastern Christian.
Hailey Mack, Bishop Eustace
Mack snapped 10 digs, eight kills, and three aces in the two-set win over Roselle Catholic in the Non-Public B South tournament.
Autumn Samek, St. Mary (Ruth.)
Samek slammed seven aces and four digs in the Gaels’ two-set win over Villa Walsh in the Non-Public North B semifinals.
